The game

A town that lives by one machine.

01

The Rig keeps everyone alive.

A dead giant from the old world, patched up and run on diesel. It pumps the water, lights the streets and powers the town. Keep it fueled, crewed and repaired: when it goes dark, the town has hours, not days.

02

Work by night. Shelter by day.

At noon the desert reaches 60 °C, so the shift runs from dusk to dawn. Plan every day around the heat, the water and the walk home before sunrise.

03

Everyone has a name.

Workers, drivers and children all have names, and they earn epithets along the way. They talk on the job and bring you petitions. When someone dies, their name goes in the Memorial book.

04

The weather is the enemy.

Sandstorms, heatwaves and solar flares are what's left of the old world's failure. A storm swallows the town, slows the trucks and tests everything you built.

05

Send the trucks out.

Named drivers haul scrap from wrecks and ruins. Scouts chart the frontier on motorbikes, and trade deals keep caravans rolling in from the wasteland.

A day in town

Same town. Six skies.

Light changes the whole game: noon is the danger, night is the work, and a storm can roll in at any hour. Pick a time of day. These six are straight from the current build.

Noon. The hottest hour, when nobody should be outside.

The world

Struck down by the sun it tried to master.

Long ago, a civilization far more advanced than ours tried to engineer the climate and harness the sun. It overreached. The sky broke, and the planet baked into a desert.

Its descendants live among the ruins. The grids, networks and factories are dead, and what's left runs on diesel, scrap and stubbornness.

  • Dead neon

Collapsed towers, buried arcologies and dark holo-billboards line the horizon. Nobody alive can run what they find.

  • Diesel and scrap

Trucks, motorbikes and the Rig are built from salvage. High tech is dug up, not understood.

  • Quiet hope

It's a hard place, not a hopeless one: a small town slowly rebuilding in the shadow of giants.

FAQ

Common questions

What kind of game is it?
A survival city-builder. You grow a town around the Rig, manage water, fuel, food and scrap, pass laws and decide who works where. The pressure comes from the heat, the weather and the people, not from fighting.
Is there combat?
No. There are no armies to command. The threats are the sun, the storms, a Rig that breaks down, and a town that runs out of patience with you.
Can I lose?
Yes. If the town loses faith in you, people walk out into the desert and the run ends. As long as the town holds, the game keeps going.
Which platforms?
PC, on Steam. The store page isn't live yet. The button on this page will point to it once it is.
When does it come out?
There's no date yet. The game is in active development. The key art on this page shows where it's headed, painted over in-game scenes. The six skies under "A day in town" are straight from the current build.
Who's making it?
Sunstruck: Horizon is made by Tolga Yavuz. Questions and press: 0@tolga.app.

Keep the lights on.
